Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Sintra City Guide receives, what happens to it and what choices you have. It is short because the site collects very little. Back to the Sintra city guide homepage.
What this site is
Sintra City Guide is a static website, plain HTML pages served from Cloudflare Pages. There are no user accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no comment section and no advertising network. Nothing you read here is personalised, and we build no profile of you.
Information we receive
Two things, and nothing else:
- The contact form or an email to [email protected]: your name, your email address and whatever you write in the message. It reaches us by email through the form service that delivers it, and we keep it only as long as it takes to answer you and any follow-up.
- Ordinary server and network data: our host, Cloudflare, records requests (IP address, time, page, browser) to serve the site and protect it from abuse, under its own privacy policy.
Third-party scripts
Each page loads two third-party scripts. GetYourGuide's partner analytics tells that platform which of our pages sent a visitor who went on to book, so the commission can be attributed, and it is governed by GetYourGuide's own privacy policy. We run no advertising or social-media tracking pixels and we sell no data. If that ever changes, this page changes with it.
Some pages embed maps and YouTube videos. Those load only when you interact with them, and from that point the provider's own policy applies.
Google Analytics 4 counts visits and shows which pages are read and which links are followed. It sets Google's own cookies (`_ga`, `_ga_*`) and records an approximate location derived from your IP, your device and where you arrived from, under Google's privacy policy. We use it for audience measurement only, never for advertising.
Affiliate links
When you follow a booking link to GetYourGuide, to Tiqets through Travelpayouts, or to a hotel search that goes through Stay22 to Booking.com, that platform sees the visit and may set its own cookie so a later booking is credited to this site. What you then do on the platform, searching, booking, paying, happens entirely under its own privacy policy and terms. We never see your payment details, your booking or your personal data from it.
We see only anonymous, aggregate commission reports. Links to official ticket offices carry no tracking at all.
Your choices
You can block cookies and scripts in your browser or with an extension, and the guide reads perfectly well without any of them. To ask what we hold from an email you sent us, or to have it deleted, write to us through the contact page and we will do it. Under the GDPR you also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
For a site read in Portugal that is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados.
Changes to this policy
If the site starts using something new, a second analytics tool or another affiliate network, this page is updated before it goes live.
